What is Ocean, Marine, and Coastal Engineering?

The members of the Ocean, Marine, and Coastal Engineering Division represent diverse interests including the study of coastal processes, naval architecture (e.g. ship designers, structural engineers, academics, and general "boat people"), and offshore engineering (e.g. the oilfield industry). 

What does the Ocean, Marine, and Coastal Engineering Division do?

The primary objectives of the Division are to:

  • Provide a formal organizational structure to promote, encourage, and facilitate ASEE activities pertaining to professional and technical education in ocean and marine engineering.
  • Provide a forum for the discussion of problems and exchange of information pertaining to professional and technical education related to ocean and marine engineering and ocean technology.
  • To provide programs at meetings.
  • To establish and maintain liaison with other organizations concerned with professional and technical education.

How do I join the Ocean, Marine, and Coastal Engineering Division?

OMCED is a no-dues division of ASEE. When joining or renewing your ASEE membership, simply select that you wish to join the Ocean, Marine, and Coastal Engineering Division.
